The superhero show “The Boys” on Amazon Prime Video Many horrifying and unbelievable things happen in this movie, like a heroicory in one scene, a whale being stabbed by a speedboat in another, and many body parts exploding all over.
The show has always been a political tale that looks at real-life problems and issues in a very violent and thought-provoking way. The first three episodes of the fourth season of “The Boys,” which airs every Thursday, are now streaming online. The season includes scenes of angry protesters in Manhattan, Americans divided along partisan lines, and an upcoming presidential election.
Does this sound familiar? “The Boys” creator Eric Kripke says they’re just “super-flying” normal society. He gives hints about future shows by saying that the QAnon movement and conspiracy theories might be led by a superhero. Also, the smartest person in the world could be using people to split up political groups if it helps them.
“We’re showing what’s going on in the real world.” I really wish there wasn’t so much stuff for us to work with.
I think the Boys would also like a task that isn’t so hard. As the fourth season starts, Butcher (Karl Urban), Hughie (Jack Quaid), Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara), Frenchie (Tomer Capone), and M.M. (Laz Alonso) are still trying to get rid of Homelander (Antony Starr), his team The Seven, and the bad company Vought International. But their job gets harder when Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit), a head-exploding super who works with Homelander and wants to be vice president, comes to power. The bad guys are now more than ever on the verge of complete control. This season, Jeffrey Dean Morgan joins the group as Joe Kessler, a friend of Butcher’s. Susan Heyward and Valorie Curry play new superheroes named Sage and Firecracker.
To make things even more complicated, our main characters, like Annie January (Erin Moriarty), who is also known as Starlight, have to face their pasts. Annie is no longer controlled by Vought. She works with her boyfriend Hughie and the Boys and goes up against Homelander, playing a hero that viewers see as “unambiguously good,” according to Moriarty.
The actress says that in the next season, she has to deal with problems from the past and the present that make her question who she is. “She has to piece together her own story, and her own identity needs to be discovered from within.”
People say that Quaid and Hughie’s friendship is “stronger than we’ve ever seen them.” Hughie meets his estranged mother, Daphne (played by Rosemarie DeWitt), and Quaid finds it exciting to dig deeper into the character’s past pain and find out what drives them. Hughie is also still the heroes’ moral guide.
When things are really important, Hughie tells his team, “If we want to beat monsters, we must first embrace our humanity” and stresses, “Using violence is not an act of bravery.”
The “hidden message of the show” is something that Quaid really likes saying. In the first season, he liked playing a character who was driven by a need for revenge for the death of his girlfriend. Now, three seasons later, the character has grown up enough to say things like this.
It’s not easy for monsters either. This season, Homelander deals with his own death while travelling back “home,” and he stays as unstable as ever. At the very end of Season 3, the cocky bad guy used his laser vision to cut off someone’s head, which was cheered on by a huge crowd. With each new season, we learn more about what he can do while seeking power and killing people.

“He is physically strong, but he’s completely lacking and underdeveloped emotionally,” Starr says. “The character is going through an existential crisis, and there’s a part of him that understands he can’t achieve what he desires, which is a legacy.” Homelander also knows that “he needs others to reach his goals,” which is why he hires the smart Sage and the conservative Firecracker from the South. But, “he’s not very good at working in a team,” says Starr, adding that there’s a scene in the new season that’s “one of the strangest things I’ve ever done in my career.” “Brother, I’ve done some pretty strange things.”
Homelander is now in video games like “Mortal Kombat” and is a popular subject for GIFs and jokes on social media. This shows how deeply “The Boys” has become a part of pop culture in such a short time. When Quaid started working on the show, he thought, “Maybe one day I’ll get to be in a Marvel movie or something.” But he never thought he’d be one of the main parts that made this world possible.
